ShoeDazzle ↠ A shoe lovers dream.

Most of you probably don't know this about me yet, but I'm a bit of a shoe fiend. I guess I haven't written much about shoes or how much I love them on this space because since I've been writing here I haven't really had the budget for them. So, in an effort not to go crazy and buy all the pairs I write about, I suppose it's just been easier to just not go there. (Now I'm starting to sound like I'm a gambler trying not to slip back into the slippery slope of slot machines and blackjack...I promise it's not that bad...I don't think.)

One place I have allowed myself to window shop for the past year or so is ShoeDazzle. I've had to talk myself out of so many pairs of adorable shoes on there, more times than I'd like to admit. I'm hoping once my photography business is up and running here in Alaska I won't have to just window shop anymore!

Getting set up on ShoeDazzle is as simple as taking a fun little quiz about your style. I really enjoyed seeing what my showroom consisted of once they put it together for me.  Plus, as an added bonus, you get 25% off your first pair after you take the quiz. I still need to make use of mine....maybe on these summer beauties....

Anyone else a shoe lover like myself? What kind of shoes would you hope to see in your personal showroom?

Full Disclosure: This post has been sponsored by ShoeDazzle, but all opinions are 100% my own.

Lately (the last few months) in iPhone pictures ↠

In the last few months, since I've been on the road, I haven't taken a minute to do a post sharing pictures I've taken with my iPhone. I love Instagram and put a lot of effort into making my space a beautiful one on there, just like I do here, so I always like sharing the pictures I've posted on there. I feel like it's especially important to do it now that Instagram doesn't show you every picture by every person (WHY does it do that?)...if you're not already following along, join me on Instagram here.

Alaska heat wave ≫≫ and other exciting happenings.

I'm sure most of you have heard by now about Alaska's big heat wave. I know it was covered on Good Morning America and was all over the local news in Kansas, so I'm sure it was everywhere else as well. It's pretty dang hilarious if you ask me...especially after enduring a summer in Austin, TX last year. Now THAT is a heat wave.

To the people of Alaska though, this is just about the end of the world. Everyone is walking around like they're melting and every store in Anchorage ran out of fans. I kid you not, we went to a few stores and called a few more before we finally found some of the last remaining fans in the city at Home Depot. And although this summer has nothing on the Texas heat, having no AC makes me very thankful to be one of the lucky people that got a fan before they ran out.

We've been working on moving into our new condo and building back up our home. We sold all of our furniture and left a lot of things behind at my parents for the time being, since it would either get broken or cost a million dollars to ship it all to ourselves in Alaska. I am so excited about the place we managed to find here in Anchorage! We're in a neighborhood that has a very California vibe to it, right by the ocean with a view of the ocean and the mountains. Words can't even describe.

Also, as if we didn't already have enough going on, we volunteered to dog-sit two of the most adorable little Yorkies. We have them for one more week and I am definitely going to be sad to see them go. They are just the sweetest and want to snuggle all day long, I can't argue with that...

PS~ I've been getting a bunch of people asking lately why we moved to Alaska, and I know I have some new followers who are probably wondering as well, so if you missed the posts you can read all about the move here and here.

Places to Eat in Anchorage, Alaska ↠ Middle Way Cafe

Middle Way Cafe is a cute little spot located here in Anchorage and it was one of the first restaurants Dave wanted to introduce me to once I arrived in Alaska. He had stumbled upon it in the first few weeks of living here and I kept hearing I would love it...he was right.

The cafe is organic, locally sourced, and full of vegetarian options...what more could you want? The inside of the cafe has local art hanging on the walls and is super cute, but we opted to sit outside since it's been in the 70s and sunny. We are soaking up every moment.

I got the "beat burger" and was a little nervous because I've never tried a beet before in my life. It was delicious. It had beets and portabella mushrooms that were roasted in balsamic- topped with spinach, goat cheese, and onion marmalade. Yum.

Dave ordered the "turkey cranberry" sandwich and thought it was wonderful as well. I think this will definitely become one of our favorite spots. I wanted to try just about everything on the menu and that's always a good sign. It's also a good sign when you pick up a coffee mug to add to your collection on your first visit to the place...it was that good.

Hello again, this time from Alaska!

Friends, I can't tell you all how much I miss writing in this space and how much I just adore all of your sweet comments on all of my pictures while I posted so many of them on Instagram in lieu of writing on here. I'm so thankful for all of you and love having you all along for this crazy ride. If you've never said hello on here before (or even if you have, and maybe it's been awhile), please make sure to do so and introduce yourself!

I'll leave you with the first Alaska pictures from my "good" camera...I hope you enjoy them and I can't wait to share more! We're hoping to move into our place by this weekend, please keep us in your thoughts as we make a decision on a place and that everything goes smoothly.

I'll talk about it a little bit more once I have some time to digest, but the beauty here is beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I'm not sure that someone could even capture the essence of this gorgeous state, but I sure am going to try my darndest.

...by the way, the dog in the above pictures is Dave's friend's Alaskan Malamute named Bandit. Is he not the coolest looking dog you ever did see? I love him.

Hello from the road!

Oh how I've missed this space the past few days and all of your lovely comments in my inbox. I am coming at you from Austin, TX...as in my LAST stop on the way to Alaska! I am having a blast on my Texas trip, seeing familiar faces and making friends with new ones, but I am over the moon that this time tomorrow I'll be at the airport headed to be reunited with my love!

Home is with You // Alaska

It's been two months since Dave left me in Kansas to get started in Alaska. This is the longest we've ever been apart since we've met and it was way too long if you ask me. I'm going to be such an anxious wreck tomorrow and I don't know how I'll handle 9 hours in the air, plus airport time, knowing that I get to see his smiling face when it's all over.

Oh and get excited for ten million some Alaska pictures! If you don't already follow Dave and I on Instagram, make sure to do so, if you're as pumped about Alaska pictures as I am. Dave has already posted some gorgeous mountain pictures (like the one above) and mine will be coming Friday. Can. Not. Wait.
