Life Lately via Instagram- Tennessee Style.

As you all know Wednesday night we left for Tennessee...it was a very quick trip to see the in-laws since we got there Thursday night and had to head back Saturday morning. Let me just say 16 hours is a long ways to drive. I'll be happy if we don't do any long road trips for a very long while after that!

But even though it took driving forever to get there and back, it was worth it. It's always fun spending time with my in-laws. Of course my fav is playing with my little 4 (almost 5!) year old nephew, holding my almost 4 month old nephew (who has gotten SO big since we saw him in November), and hanging out with my 13 year old sister-in-law.

My favorite thing about staying at my in-laws is getting woken up by my oldest nephew and him jumping into bed with us. He immediately says, "Can I see your phone?"...hehe, the kid loves playing games on the iphones and he is way too good at them. It melts my heart when he grabs my face, looks deep into my eyes and says, "Mawrie, you're pretty" ...especially first thing when I wake up after a 16 hour drive and then 10 hour zombie sleep :)

Tennessee adventure {Part 5}...

Cont. from Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4...ok guys here it is, the 5th and final part of our trip to Tennessee...sorry so many posts on one trip, but we did so much and I had so many great pics I wanted to share! Hope you guys have enjoyed them :)

Sooo on Friday Dave had an interview with Channel 8 News in Knoxville at noon. It went great, they had him talk about the album and his show at Borders later and then they had him play a song...it was fun to watch it on the DVR when we got home :)

That night Dave had his official album release party at Borders...there was an awesome crowd and amazing response. Dennis Double from Writer's Block came out to support along with many others, including @d_c_davis and her hubby and @nikonlover104 and family. Thanks to everyone that came out! You all are the best...

That weekend we headed up to Norris Lake to spend some time with Dave's family. Dave played us all some songs and later he and his sis played Wagon Wheel...

Tennessee adventure {Part 4}...

Cont. from Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3...

On Thursday night Dave had his show at Hard Rock Cafe for 105.3 WFIV's 40 Days of Rock, celebrating Hard Rock's 40th anniversary. I was extra excited about this show...I mean come on, it's Hard Rock! The show went well and it was fun to have Dave's family there that night and some of his friends from the Air Force and National Guard...

Dave had told our Nephew Hunter earlier in the day that if he would get up on stage with him they could sing the T-Rex song ...the whole time Dave played Hunter kept asking my sister-in-law, Natalie, "Mommy when do I get to go on stage?" Hehe, it was too cute. So at the very end Dave called him up there and at first he was a little hesitant and Dave told him to say something in the mic to check the sound and he looked up at Natalie and said "Mommy?"...the crowd giggled a little and then he followed it up with "Mommy, what are you doing?"...the crowd went wild and he was hooked. He laughed and grabbed the mic and they started singing...guys I was almost in tears I was laughing so hard, but I did manage to get these pics...

I know, this one is a little blurry...but I love it!

After I said, "Hunter you're a rockstar now!"...I have now created a monster, haha...the next day Natalie asked him to feed the dogs (his chore) and he said, "Mommy, rockstars don't feed the dogs." Oh man that kid kills me! He is way too smart for his own good...love him.

Tennessee adventure {Part 3}...

Continued from Part 1 and Part 2...ok so Tuesday (May 24th) is when the madness began...that morning bright and early they played Dave's interview with 106.1 The River (see Part 1.) At noon, Dave was on WDVX's Blue Plate Special...it is always a lot of fun to do this show, it is in the Knoxville Visitors Center downtown and since it's right at lunch time many of the businessmen/women stop in to see who is playing that day. Plus their DJ's are fun...

After the show we sold some albums and chatted for a bit with people that had come and then headed to Downtown Brewery for lunch...we brought Dave's sister Jessica with us, we like to take her to the shows like that when we can...

The next day we had a bit of free time until his first show at 7 that night. I was so thankful for that because my allergies were getting the best of me (dang Knoxville!) and I wasn't feeling so great. Later we went to Homegrown with 105.3 at the Disc Exchange...usually Joe Stutler is the DJ for that show, but since they are the station that was putting on the 40 Days of Rock at Hard Rock they had another DJ Cullen do it. It was fun to mix it up since Dave has been on that show a few times before and Cullen had a lot of new really great questions...

We had a little bit of time in between that and the next interview and since my throat was hurting pretty badly by this point we walked down to Market Square and got a ice cream/icee thingy at Ritas...so good :) Plus Jessica had never been down to Market Square so it was fun to see her face when we turned the corner...

Next we had Writer's Block with Dennis Double at 10...Dave had never been on this show and we LOVED it! It has such a cool vibe and they have a chat room, people from all over listen to the show and participate. It was so neat when Dennis offered one of Dave's albums to the first caller and the phone immediately rang :) Jessica got to do a few announcements too which was fun...

Tennessee adventure {Part 2}...

Continued from Part 1...that weekend we continued to relax, hang with fam, and prepare for the crazy week ahead. It was awesome staying at my brother and sister-in-law's this trip, we got to see them more and of course plenty of quality time with my favorite little man :)

Saturday night Dave and I had a date night since we knew it would be the last night before the madness began. We went for sushi, and I know I already said this and posted this picture...but guys it was that good...if you're ever in Knoxville and love sushi check out Kobuki in Turkey Creek. Sunday we headed to Borders to put up posters for the album release party. It was pretty hilarious walking into the cafe area, the barista that remembered us from before came running at us yelling, "Dave Owens! It's Dave Owens!"...everyone was staring at us trying to figure out what was going on. While we were there, Dave practiced some songs and I updated the blog and caught up online. We talked to a few people that used to come every Friday night when Dave played and made new friends with the people next to us that loved his voice. 

I have to say, being a musicians wife and always in the position where I have to talk to new people has really helped me become much more outgoing...I still have a long way to go, but considering how shy I used to be around new people I'm pretty proud of myself...

Monday was the last day before all the interviews and shows so we hit up Vienna Coffee House in Maryville to put up posters and some coffee action. Again, if you are ever in the Knoxville/Maryville area you guys have to check this place out...it's a very cool coffee shop with a great feel and is just so cozy, love it! And the Muddy Pond Mocha is to die for...

Later we did a little vacuuming, you know, to earn our keep since we were staying so long...Dave had a little monkey on his back the whole time. Love that kid...

Later that night we went to Noodles and Co. with @d_c_davis and her hubby...always a good time :) We didn't get a pic this time though, next time!

Tennessee adventure {Part 1}...

Sorry the Tennessee posts took me so long, promise I didn't leave you all hanging on purpose, things have just been non-stop here...but here goes!

We left Tuesday (May 17th) night, that way we would have a few days the week before all the craziness began to hang with fam, relax, put up posters, etc. It's a long drive, but not as long as it would have seemed if we would have taken our car with no AC...thanks again John! We drove through the night (and when I say we, I mean Dave) and got there Wednesday afternoon...

After we napped for a bit we got in some quality time with our nephew...I missed him so much! He loves movies and we were staying in his bed this trip, so he just hopped in...

 

The next day we went to Hard Rock in Gatlinburg to put up posters for Dave's show the next week...I had never been to Gatlinburg, it is so pretty up there! Loved it...

That night we took Jessica (my 12 year old sister-in-law) to dinner, I can't believe how much she has grown since we were there last, she gets prettier by the day...

On Friday we headed to 106.1 The River for Dave to do an interview with Bruce Patrick. It was a lot of fun and the interview turned out great...

When we went home we hung out with our nephew before heading to Chedders with him and Dave's brother. I'm so glad Hunter likes all the movies we sent him for Christmas and his birthday! It's too fun to watch them with him and try to answer all of his questions about different things...
