Wife fail...and a happy 4 years to us!

This morning (since it's our anniversary), I planned on waking up early and surprising Dave with whole wheat pancakes. I also decided I'd get fancy and throw in a few blueberry's, why not. I had made this recipe before (you know, the one time I made pancakes) and they turned out great...

...today, not so much. I gave Dave his pancakes first as I took a few pictures and he was really quiet, which should have been my first clue because if he was thoroughly enjoying them he would have made a fuss over them. I asked if they were good and he says, "Yeahhhhh, pretty good." So I had to ask, "Pretty good as in great, or pretty good as in blah?" "Uhhhh, pretty good..." Hehe, sweet husband was trying to be nice.

Then I sat down to join him and took a bite and wanted to be sick. It was mushy (maybe because of the blueberry's?) and disgusting. I started cracking up because I knew he was just saying that to not hurt my feelings, these weren't pretty good...these were terrible.

So, I tossed them in the trash and made us peanut butter toast. Fancy, I know. 4 years of marriage later and I still can't even make us pancakes. Better luck next year! But hey, in marriage you have to learn to be flexible and roll with the punches, and laugh when life gives you lemons...or in our case mushy pancakes.

On that note, any one have a whole wheat pancakes recipe for dummies? Send it my way please! I feel like I need to redeem myself after this one.

And since it's our anniversary...

3 years...

Photobucket

As I sit here it is the exact moment, 3 years ago, that I walked down the aisle towards Dave. Walking down that aisle and saying "I do" was the best decision I have ever made. Period. My life is so much fuller because of him...

Just last night, I was starting to pout a bit (as we women tend to do) about how we wouldn't get much time today to celebrate like we usually do. It's midterm week for Dave and he has tests today and a paper due tomorrow, plus meetings with people we met at SXSW (more on that later). Not to mention the fact that we can't afford to get each other gifts this year- which only makes me sad because there was something I really wanted to get Dave, but we just can't afford it...

...and Dave kissed me on the forehead, looked me in the eyes, and said, "it's ok, every day is a celebration of our marriage". HOW did I get so lucky? And he's right. Oh so right. Every day that passes is a celebration of our love and devotion to one another.

So cheers to 3 years, and forever...

My week in iPhone pics {3}...

Monday I finally got the cheese fries that I'd been "wishing" for...definitely worth the wait! We used Alexia waffle fries and Archer Farms buffalo blue cheese dip (both from Target), perfection.

As you all saw in the post from that day, Tuesday was my little brother's 20th birthday. That night Dave and I went out to dinner with him, my Dad, and Grandma to Chedders. Then we headed back to my Dad's for some ice cream cake, yum!

Later that night I finally recorded my first vlog! It will be up in a few days :)

Wednesday was the last day of Kid's Day Out for the summer. We had a water day to celebrate so we were outside most of the day and the kids just went wild. That night Dave and I really needed to get out of the house so we headed down the street to Chipolte...gotta love it- cheap, delicious, and nutritious. Just the way I like my food :)

Thursday I did some Body by Bethenny yoga and then that night Dave and I celebrated our 2 years 4 month anniversary, hehe we like to celebrate the little things along with the big things...Dave cooked us some whole wheat veggie lasagna...it was amazing! Recipe to come...

Friday Dave had a show at The Brickyard from 5-7:30...outside. It was 102 and we were under an extreme heat advisory. Again. It was a fun time regardless and I got some great shots (more to come in tomorrow's post.) Afterwards Dave's yoga teacher (he's taking a class at WSU this semester) had a yoga party at her house. Fun stuff. A great workout followed by yummy food, what could be better? :)

Hope you all had a wonderful week! ~Mal

2 Year Anniversary ♥

A little over a month ago now (oops) Dave and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary :) We had a great time relaxing together during the day and waiting for the albums to arrive. It was so exciting opening up the boxes once they got here and seeing how great it turned out! To grab a SIGNED copy of the album go here...

After we finished checking out the albums, we headed to my parents to give them a copy and show them how awesome they looked. Then we headed to dinner...Dave took me to Redrock Canyon Grill, somewhere I'd always wanted to go on a date night :)

It was a great day of celebrating our love and feeling so blessed that 2 years later we love each other even more than before...
