In the weekend ≫≫ pictures to ease into Monday.

I had a nice weekend taking a break from social media and all of it's distractions. I'm pretty proud of myself for making it all weekend (ha) without checking any of the accounts a million times or even posting on instagram once. I only cheated once (or twice) to check on Ruthie and Mandy's baby bumps...just couldn't help myself there, it's all just too exciting.

Any time I felt like I wanted to start scanning the various social media platforms, I read my book instead. It felt wonderful. We had our first rainy weekend, and it was nice to have a break in the blaring 24/7 sun. Dave and I did some cooking/baking, watched some shows on Netflix (House of Cards anyone?), and generally just relaxed and enjoyed having some time off together.











We were even able to go to dinner with friends on Friday night who are in town from back home, they've traveled in their RV all the way from Kansas. Pretty cool. They've had quite the adventure and we had a great time listening to their stories and catching up.

I think the whole country needs a little bit of time to relax and reflect this weekend. So much tragedy has happen in such a short amount of time. And the craziness isn't over yet...stay safe Boston...

 

Despite all of that, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get plenty of time to love on those around you. If anything, that's one of the main things I take away from tragedies like this. Life is so short and we never know when it might be over. So love one another. Always.

I don't think it's a secret that this week hasn't been my favorite, I even missed posting a few days this week. Blogger fail. But, today is Friday, and that sorta seems like a fresh start to enjoy this weekend. Here are a few things I have to be happy about this Friday...

>> I get to have a blogger date with this girl today!

>> Dave is officially on Spring Break...thank goodness.

>> The sun is out, and it's supposed to get be in the 70's tomorrow. Bring it on!

>> I'm almost done with my photography blog and back dating all of the posts. (Website to come!) I could add another thing to be happy about this Friday if you all spread the word about my little business. ;)

>> It's almost time for March Madness! ROCK CHALK!!! (that's who we're all rooting for, right?)

The weekend in photographs...

While I, along with the rest of you, try to get back on track after Daylight Savings Time kicked all of our butts...I thought I'd give you a peek into our weekend. It was a gorgeous weekend and we took advantage by working on the yard buying lots of plants/succulents for the new house...

...that cute little bundle of succulents on my desk was bought to try and replace this guy. I tried my darndest to keep him alive throughout the two months of traveling/moving, but it was just too much on him. Poor little dude.

...it's been fabulously gloomy here in Austin. I never appreciated gloomy/rainy days until I moved to south Texas. After this long, hot summer I find myself praying for a cloudy day. This weekend really delivered. We took the opportunity to be shut-ins and relax a bit....

Happy Friday my loves! How was everyone's week? Not too crazy, I hope! I know this time of year can be a whirlwind while we all try to adjust to a new schedule. It has been here, that's for sure.

The start of school makes my heart ache for cooler temperatures, falling leaves, changing colors, jackets, and football games. I miss having a game to go to every weekend. I can't wait until Dave and I have kids and are able go cheer them on at all of their sporting events...

Until then, I'll just light my hazelnut cream candle and sip on my pumpkin beer (or latte, depending on the time of day) and pretend fall is already here.

Dear Chipolte,
I don't know why you've been on my mind lately, but I am missing you something fierce. If the universe sends me a few extra dollars I will be coming your way soon.

Dear next week,
I know I have to wait another week for you (duh), but if you could get here quickly I would REALLY appreciate it. Homegirl hasn't had a "real" vacation (aka a trip that isn't full of shows/interviews/etc.) since the 4th of July last year. We can't wait to be at my Dad's lake house on Table Rock yet again! I can't tell you how excited I am to have a slushy in my hand and be out on the boat.

Dear tofu sandwhich,
You were amazing last night, which means there will be many more of you in my future.

Dear "INM Out the Door",
Thank you for saving me from this disaster and being a top coat I can rely on to dry very quickly....and not do harm to my body. Dave thanks you too since I always do my nails right before we head out, now doing so isn't as difficult.

Dear laundry,
I apologize for washing you and not putting you away. That will be remedied this weekend. Pinky promise.

Dear husband,
It's the weekend! I'm hoping you don't have TOO much on your plate this weekend so we can do a little bit more exploring. I love finding new spots with you.

Friday I'm in love!

I don't know about you guys, but we are pretty dang excited that it's Friday around here. Dave finished his last 3 finals yesterday, so he has about a week off before he starts summer classes. We are going to enjoy every minute of it!

There may be some of this...

...but definitely lots of relaxing, snuggling, and hopefully pool time if the weather behaves. Honestly I'm just excited that Dave won't be stuck at his desk for 22 hours straight anymore. Oh happy day :)We hope you all have a wonderful weekend as well! What are your plans?

Steppin' Out Saturday {4}...

This is actually a Steppin' Out Friday post again, since last night was more low-key. Friday Dave played at the Artichoke here in town. I love when he plays there because the food is amazing and the owners/people who work there are the best. Plus, the crowd that shows up is always a fun group that sings along and gets really into the music, which is always appreciated. 

I was extra excited because even though it hasn't really been that long, I'm used to Dave playing all the time...and since we took time off to go back to Tennessee to switch cars with my father-in-law and then more time off for my best friend's wedding, it seemed like it had been forever since Dave had played...

The show went well and I got to hang out with my friend Veronica who is in town for the summer, she is in med school in Europe, how cool is that?! Anyways, it's not your typical "steppin out" post because it wasn't technically a date night since Dave was playing for some of it. But what the heck...

Saturday night we cooked out at my Dad's house. Salmon, Steak, veggies, pasta salad, guacamole, and Summer Shandy...mmm mmm good!
