I am most afraid of...

I was going to write today's post on the deeper, more life changing things that I'm afraid of...like loss. And how sometimes if Dave's gone longer than expected, I go into panic mode. Even though most of the time it's just because he's made a new friend and they lost track of time while they were chatting (he's so good at meeting new people).

But today I think I'll talk about my fear of snakes, even typing the word just now gives me the chills and makes me want to cry. I'm deathly afraid of snakes. There, I said it.

Home is with You // Fear

I used to be a lot worse, and have slowly gotten better about it. I used to start crying if I was taken off guard and a picture of one popped up in a movie or somewhere else...now I'll just have nightmares, but I get those just from talking about them. Tonight should be fun. It's bad, and I'm pretty sure if I ever happened across one Dave would find me passed out cold from the sheer terror of it all.

And as cute as our little house in North Carolina was, I don't miss it one bit. Why? Because our neighbor (who had grown up in the house we lived in) informed us as we were moving out that the reason his family finally moved out of there was because his Mom found one too many black snakes just hanging out in her living room. Shudders. No thank you! I don't care how cute a house is, that is not ok!

What about you, what are you afraid of?

The one who loves you.

Home is with You // We love.

As I mentioned in this post, I tend to freeze up when people ask me questions about myself. I know that I know the answer, but suddenly I'm all "HUH?!" So last night as I sat staring at a new post, with my cursor blinking at me, I drew a blank.

Jenni asked us if we were asked the usual question of "what do you do", but couldn't answer with our job title, how would we answer? I was thinking about it way too hard (as usual) when I finally text my husband Dave and asked him what he would say. His answer, as usual, was perfect...he said, "Before I am a musician, technician, son, etc...I am the one who loves you." Cue heart melting.

But he's right. He and I, we are both lovers. We pour into each other first and foremost, which is what makes our relationship so rock solid, if you ask me. But we are also pretty great at loving those around us. We are both incredibly loyal friends and would do anything for our family (and friends that have become like family.)

We both tend to go out of our way for people, even if we don't know them very well. Dave is the only person I know that (on his birthday no less) will hop in and play bagger at the grocery store late at night when someone decides to purchase hundreds of groceries and the poor cashier has no help. True story.

What about you? What would your answer be to this question? I'd love to hear!

A favorite quote ↠

I realize I'm a day behind on the list of things we're supposed to blog about today, but I missed yesterday's prompt due to our garage sale consuming my life way more than I thought it would. I had to go back and do yesterday's post about a favorite quote, because that's one of my favorite things.

It's hard for me to pick just one quote as a favorite, because I sort of collect quotes in a way. I seek them out online, in books I read, and in favorite songs. I love writing them down and sometimes displaying them as a good reminder. I tend to post favorite quotes on this blog often, I'll link to previous quotes at the end...

Home is with You // Life is short.

I chose this quote from "The Time Keeper" by Mitch Albom because it's my current favorite. I read this book (and found this quote) while I was staying with my parents after my Grandma passed away. This book/quote couldn't have come at a better time and it's just a wonderful reminder to not let a day pass without making it a great one. Life is too short to wish our days away.

Awkward.

The prompt for today was "things that make you feel uncomfortable", and you see, that's really awkward because questions like that make me feel uncomfortable. When I meet someone for the first time (or we're still getting to know each other better) and they put me on the spot with a question about myself and all of a sudden I'm all beet red in the face and thinking, "OH MY GOSH, how can I not think of something...you got this...just think of SOMETHING!" And then my answer is extra awkward. Yeah, that.

Being over or under dressed at a party. I get anxiety trying to get dressed for these things in the first place, most of the time. So when I spend all that time getting dressed just to show up and realize I way over or under shot it...I want to crawl in a hole. And cry.

People fighting in front of me also makes me want to scream. I hate it. It makes me soooooo uncomfortable and I want to cry...and sometimes do. Why people, why? Just love one another.

Home is with You // New Girl

Being hungry makes me extremely uncomfortable. We've started calling my "condition" Blackout Rage, because no one can predict what I'll do when I need food. And then I awkwardly come back to reality once I get some food in my stomach and realize what a Beatrice I've been, and I try to be all sweet again...

...which brings me to eating out with other people. Let's just say I'm not the neatest eater and sometimes when I'm eating at a nice restaurant or with people I don't know as well, I try to be extra neat and it ends up making me even more messy...oops.
