Vegas: Part 1 (Bellagio)

We had a great time in Vegas. It was a lot of fun getting to celebrate my little brother's 21st birthday that way. There were shows, lights, gambling, and walking...lots of walking. We stayed at the Bellagio and it was just as gorgeous as I remembered.

I took so many pics of just the Bellagio I thought I'd give it it's own post, tomorrow will be the rest of the trip! Hope you enjoy Vegas from my point of view...

We were on the 28th floor so we had a great view of the pool...Vegas is a great place to people watch.

I always love walking through The Conservatory, they regularly change out the flowers so you never know what pretties you'll find in there.

But of course the Bellagio Fountain steals the show every time. If they ran it all night I could probably sit there and watch it for way too long.

Hi! I'm Tracey. I make jewelry, keep house (sometimes poorly), drink tea, read lots of books, and share life with my husband and twin girls in Maine. I love simple jewelry, nothing too frilly or fussy for me :) A lot of my work is inspired by quotes, books and poems. They are great reminders of the good things in life. I'm managing a family and a growing business - trying to make it all work & learn some things along the way!

Viva Las Vegas

Ok, so I have a slight obsession with Elvis, and since I'm leaving bright and early tomorrow morning for Vegas I just couldn't help but post this...

Gotta love it. Can I just say that I'm sad I missed out on this time, when people like Elvis and The Beatles were big stars as opposed to Katy Perry and Kesha. At least I have Youtube to take me back.

For those in Austin, Dave is starting a new series at Potbelly's on Friday afternoon from 11:30-1:30 at the Arboretum location (10515 N Mo Pac Expy). We'd love to see you there!

I love that Potbelly's is named after an antique stove (like the one shown in the picture above) and they have lots of antique trinkets around the shop. And Dave tells me you used to be able to buy anything in the store, including chairs and such...we're not sure if that's still the case.

I tried the new Mediterranean sandwich that's advertised above, and let me tell you it was oh so good. I'll definitely be getting that next time. Sandwich places as a vegetarian can be kind of a let down sometimes because people usually skimp on the veggies and give you lots of meat. So when you don't get the meat you are often left with a little lettuce and other veggies. Not with this sandwich. Loads of veggies, hummus, and feta cheese...the perfect combination.

And I apologize for not getting a pic of said sandwich. I smelled/watched other people eating for over two hours (and way past my lunch time), so by the time I got my food it was devoured before I could even think about a picture. Next time.

Spicy Superfood Chips

I've seen countless recipes all over the internet lately for kale chips, as I'm sure most of you have as well, and I've been wanting to try it out. The other night I got a craving for a late night snack and decided it would be a great time to try...problem was I didn't have any kale. We did have a big thing of dark mixed greens so I thought why not!

Spicy Superfood Chips by Home is with You

I decided to make my own recipe, since I like things spicy, and they turned out great! If you use kale it might be crunchier, but I thought the mixed greens were delish and they are still very good for you.

Here's what I used:
-Dark greens (your choice)
-2 Tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
-Cayenne pepper to taste
-Garlic salt to taste

Spicy Superfood Chips by Home is with You

Preheat oven to 275. Mix the oil and spices together well and then dip the greens in and lay them on a baking sheet. I just did enough greens to fill the sheet.

Bake for about 15-20 minutes.

Enjoy! This really hit the spot for a salty/spicy late night snack, without the guilt afterwards. What more could you ask for?

Our week according to Instagram...

This week was full of events. My little brother turned 21, we celebrated our friends' debut on House Hunters, and Dave had two shows sell out on Stageit. Here's what it looked like in pictures...

Our week via Instagram // Home is with You

-Gorgeous sunset. Aaaalmost as pretty as the ones in Kansas.
-Breakfast in bed. I'm a lucky girl.
-Dave setting up to play at Potbelly's.
-Our first try at homemade salsa. Not too shabby.
-Loving my classes from The Define School and Hey, Sweet Pea!
-Leftover Noodles and Co. Nothing better.
-Wearing my ring c/o Found in California. Today is the last day to enter!
-After watching everyone else eat (while Dave performed) I was so ready for this sandwich.
-The man, the myth, the legend...Ernie Hart. Ready for his big debut.

To follow along, my Instagram name is mallorieowens. Did you all have as crazy a week as we did?

Lost and found.

Home is with You

Just stumbled across this pic from a few weeks ago on my phone. I forgot I even took it, but it was a sweet surprise when I came across it again. I don't know why, but I love this pic of us. Probably because we don't take enough pics together (in my opinion) anymore, and when we do it's just a head shot on our phones. I plan to work on this...

David Owens live ↠ Strange Brew Austin

A few weeks ago, Dave played at a cool place here in Austin called Strange Brew. It has a cool listening room towards the back to provide a secluded area for those interested in really taking in the music. Pretty awesome. Here are some shots I got that night...

Also, Dave is doing another online show on Monday the 23rd. I know I've said it before, but these are so much fun. I love that you all can experience Dave performing live from wherever you are! Although it's a little tamer when he's sitting on the couch than when he's jumping/stomping/dancing on stage. Plus, there is a fun chat room and you can ask Dave and I questions and just hang out with others watching the show, it's a great way to spend an hour of your Monday night.

Tickets for this show can be bought here. It is pay what you can, and that's a pretty awesome deal if you ask me. I'll be putting a button up later today that will take you to his current online show for future reference. Hope to see you all there!

We heart Noodles.

It's no secret that we love Noodles and Co. It's inexpensive and you get high quality food. They were named one of the top 5 best places to eat out (as far as being healthy) because the ingredients are fresh and not pre-packaged and most of the bowls have a reasonable amount of calories, so you're not splurging your whole days worth of calories in one sitting. Plus, there is plenty for you to take some home later, a major determining factor of where I eat out, I love leftovers.

I always order off of the Asian menu and Dave usually does too, but sometimes he ventures out into the others (American and Mediterranean). My favorite is the Bangkok Curry with tofu...and lots of sriracha of course. This trip I went with another favorite the Japanese Pan Noodles, and Dave ordered his usual Indonesian Peanut Saute...
